American hydrogen supercar revealed, which accelerates from 0-100 km / h in less than 2.2 seconds.

Hyperion XP-1 sounds like the name of a spaceship from a science fiction movie from the 50s of the last century, but in fact it is about to be hydrogen-based. After months of teasers, the innovative car was finally presented. This was handed over to Motor 1.

Hydrogen fuel cells generate electricity that drives all four wheels of the Hyperion XP-1 through a three-speed transmission. This allows the supercool to develop from 0-100 km / h in less than 2.2 seconds. The maximum speed of the Hyperion XP-1 is 356 km / h.

Keeping the light weight of the innovative car is the main emphasis in its design. The hydrogen supercool weighs only 1,248 kilograms. The XP-1 uses a carbon-titanium monocoque chassis with a titanium-reinforced composite body. The innovative supercharger stores hydrogen in special carbon fiber tanks.

The body of the XP-1 has two "flying arches", which are placed behind the doors of the car and have two properties. They are active aerodynamic elements that improve high-speed cornering, and also function as solar panels, able to move.

The main disadvantage of the current hydrogen vehicles is the lack of charging infrastructure. Hypperion seems to have a solution to this problem as well, as the company says it will soon present a "charging industry revolution plan".

Production of the XP-1 will begin in 2022, and Hyperion intends to build 300 copies of the model. There is still no information about the price of the hydrogen supercar.
