The incredible life of the mysterious hermit Greta Garbo.

"I lived an amazing life," the actress said before her death.

Greta Garbo starred in 28 films and ended her film career at the age of thirty-six, then hid, and the world learned of her death in 1990. She is one of the most romantic and mysterious figures in world cinema.

Greta Lovisa Gustafson was born on September 18, 1905 in Stockholm, into a working-class family with older sisters. She started working in a barber shop, then a saleswoman in a department store and there they chose her as a mannequin and shot commercials with her.

He gets his big chance because of… a hat. As a department store saleswoman, she showed off exactly her hats to her customers and had to show the new model in an advertisement. This helped her start studying at the film academy. He starred first in a Swedish film and then in a German film. Her first role was at the age of 17.

The American Film Institute ranked her fifth among the greatest film actresses - after Catherine Hepburn, Betty Davis, Audrey Hepburn and her compatriot Ingrid Bergman.

Outside of cinema, Greta Garbo, not only during her career, but for fifty years after her graduation, does not want to be in public.

She never gave interviews or autographs, did not attend the premieres of her films and did not respond to letters from her fans. She lived alone for half a century in New York, avoiding reporters and going out into the street with dark glasses covering her face. The great actress remained the "mysterious Garbo".

She is not married, she has no children. She lived in her New York apartment, died in hospital from pneumonia and kidney failure on April 15, 1990, at the age of 84, was cremated and buried in her native Stockholm.
