A huge fire broke out in a skyscraper in South Korea.

A fire broke out in a high-rise apartment building in the South Korean port city of Ulsan, the BBC and local media reported.

The fire in the 33-storey residential building broke out last night around 11 pm. There were also commercial premises in it. It is alleged that the victims, taken to hospital, were registered with minor injuries. Some of the evacuees were temporarily housed in a hotel.

Hundreds of residents were evacuated when the fire broke out, while firefighters rescued another 77 who fled to the roof or other areas.

South Korea's interior and security ministry said at least 88 people had been treated for minor injuries. Officers are investigating the cause of the fire, which they say started on a balcony on one of the lower floors late Thursday (local time) and spread to the outside of the building in strong winds.
