Two children and two adults died off the coast of France.

Two children aged five and eight and two adults from Iran died when a migrant boat sank in the English Channel off the coast of France. Another 15 migrants were hospitalized.

The distressed vessel was spotted by another passing boat, which notified the French authorities. A large-scale rescue operation followed, involving four French ships, a Belgian helicopter and a French fishing vessel. The weather in the English Channel was bad.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson expressed sympathy for the relatives of the victims. He vowed to do everything possible to eradicate criminal groups that take advantage of vulnerable people by organizing such dangerous trips.
