Romain Grosjean made a video statement from the hospital after the brutal accident.

Haas pilot Romain Grosjean made a video statement from his hospital room in which he reassured everyone that he was feeling well and admitted that most likely the so-called a "halo" saved his life.

Yesterday, Grosjean experienced one of the worst Formula One crashes in many years, after his car hit Daniel Kwiat's rear tire at the start of the Bahrain Grand Prix and crashed into the guardrails.

The Frenchman's car split in two and exploded in flames, but the extremely quick reaction of the medical teams allowed Grosjean to escape relatively unharmed. He was taken by helicopter to a hospital where burns were treated on his hands and other parts of his body, after which he recorded a message for his fans.

"Hello everyone, I want to tell you that I'm fine. Well, fine to some extent. Thanks to everyone for the messages. I wasn't a fan of the halo years ago, but I think it's great that we introduced him to Formula 1. Without him I would not be able to speak at the moment. I thank all the medical teams", Grosjean said.

The halo was introduced in Formula 1 cars from 2018 and is a metal barrier around the drivers' heads, which protects them in the event of an impact. According to many experts, it was the halo that was skeptical at first that saved Grosjean's life after the brutal catastrophe.
