Stromboli volcano erupted and covered nearby cities with ash (VIDEO)

Stromboli volcano erupted and covered nearby cities with ash.

The active volcano Stromboli (on the Italian island of the same name near Sicily) erupted, TASS reported.

The natural disaster was caused by an explosion in one of the craters of the volcano. According to the information available at the time, the Stromboli eruption did not cause any casualties, destruction or property damage.

Nearby cities are covered in ashes, said the Moscow-based news agency, which cited media from the Apennine country.

Stromboli, as we have repeatedly written, has erupted several times in recent years. The volcano last summer killed a 35-year-old tourist who climbed a mountain slope.

The man died after being hit by a rain of stones.
